The Plain Vein Facts:
Vein Conditions

  • Varicose Veins: Dark purple or blue in color and are usually bulging or cord-like. They commonly appear on the legs, groin or ankle since the veins in the legs have the toughest time carrying blood back up to the heart.

  • Spider Veins: Red, blue or purple clusters on the thighs, calves and ankles, are very fine and lie close to the surface of the skin.

  • Hemorrhoids: Veins around the anus or lower rectum that are swollen and inflamed. Hemorrhoids may result from straining to move stool.
